HELLO

Hello, it’s Sarah from 702 PARK PROJECT, sharing my last monthly yummy home inspiration with y’all. There’s just something about tartan at Christmas time that I just love! I used to think the tartan pattern was too informal or rustic for our home, but now I know that it can be dressed up or down to be as sophisticated as you like.

HISTORY

A little background… tartan is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical stripes in a variety of colors, usually reds, blues, greens, and yellows. Tartans originated in woven wool, but now they are made in many other materials. Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland, and kilts almost always have tartan patterns. (Thanks, Google!)

SHOP THE STYLE

In your home, pair plaid with lots of greenery and wood for a more rustic look, or with gold accents for a more glam feel. Our Christmas stockings are a plaid pattern with fur at the top, and I am obsessed with them! Here are some other great uses for tartan at Christmas!
