The all-star list of interior designers who will participate in the Hampton Designer Showhouse 2014 this summer has been announced, and I’m happy to see so many great talents included. 2014 marks the 15th year of the showhouse, sponsored by Traditional Home magazine and to benefit Southampton Hospital. The home, located at 408 Pauls Lane, opens July 20th and runs through September 1st. I look forward to seeing the magic that these designers have planned!
On Tuesday I attended a preview of the 42nd Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House, hosted by New York’s most prominent youth organization, the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, at Manhattan’s iconic Villard Mansion at 457 Madison Avenue, The Mansion on Madison. With an estimated 20,000 people expected to tour the finished Show House between May 1st and May 29th, I thought it would be fun to share six small snapshots from my instagram feed, as a preview of what’s to see.
As a New York Junior League member, I urge you to save the date for The New York Junior League’s 19th Annual Spring House Tour. Eight, yes, eight more gorgeous tabletop designs from Wednesday’s Lenox Hill Neighborhood House Spring Gala, guaranteed to inspire you for Spring dining and entertaining.
It may have snowed yesterday, but it is Spring in New York. To welcome the season, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House hosted their annual spring gala benefit on Wednesday at Cipriani 42nd Street. I had a great time attending for cocktails, and viewing the 50 tables, each decorated by a different, renowned designer, using the theme A Spring Affair as their inspiration. Prepare to be dazzled.
We all have a masculine and feminine side. For this year’s DIFFA Dining by Design, Kati Curtis expressed the interplay between boy and girl in all of us, via her sensational table design with the New York Design Center.
Playing with the gender stereotypes that we-all-too-easily fall prey to, Kati created a half masculine, half feminine fantasy world utilizing the New York Design Center’s crafted materials and playful patterns.
Ahead of the Architectural Digest Home Design Show 2014’s Thursday opening, I identified three home brands that I was looking forward to getting to know more about and seeing the newest offerings from. Eric, Chris, and Gretchen did not disappoint, and I of course left with 10+ more home show moments and home furnishings for this roundup. PATTERN, saturated color, and unusual texture were the three trends I observed at the show.
