SOTHEBY’S DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE

Tomorrow, Sunday April 19th, is the final day to see the 2015 Sotheby’s Designer Showhouse. In the first showhouse of its kind, Sotheby’s Auction House invited 13 interior designers from around the nation to decorate a space using items from all periods and categories of Sotheby’s extensive inventory of home furnishings. The exhibition of designer rooms will culminate with the auction of all featured items on Monday April 20th.

DECORATING WITH ANTIQUES

Sotheby’s enlisted a section of established and new wave decorators to illustrate how beautiful and timeless decorating with antiques can be. Any preconceived notions of antiques being too precious or solely for the very formal older crowd are dismissed while viewing the masterful spaces on display. I encourage you to take an hour tomorrow and walk through the showhouse, which is free and open to the public, between 10am to 5pm. If you won’t have the chance, make sure you click through the slideshow. Prepare to be impressed.

  • How gorgeous are those vintage pieces? I adore those pink walls too!

  • These are all so gorgeous! It’s really cool seeing how each showroom is unique and representative of its designer. I love the living room with the pops of red.
