House Beautiful November Paul Austin

Today we have another sneak peek into House Beautiful’s entertaining-focused November issue, themed “The Arts  of Living.”.  The November issue, which hits  newsstands on Tuesday, October 22, is centered around guest editor and interior designer Charlotte Moss‘ belief that a home should be “pleasing on every sensory level,” — look good, smell good, and feel fabulous.

For this issue, Charlotte invited her friend, “fragrance industry maestro,” Paul Austin to write the feature, “On The Scent,” in which he takes inspiration from five stylish rooms and selects scents that evoke their true personalities.

In the interior by Alex Papachristidis (shown above), Austin explains “I get an Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s vibe. Think of the scent of his iconic Opium: spicy, woody, smoky.” He chose Costes Brown candle as the perfect scent for this room.

For the interior by Jennifer Post (above), which he describes as “[m]odernist yet sensual, stark yet inviting,” Mr. Austin selects Le Labo Santal 26 for its sandalwood keynotes.
