It’s Blogfest 2012 time!

Today marks Day One of the second annual 3-day New York City design event hosted by Kravet Inc.  Blogfest brings together editors from top design and lifestyle magazines, great brands, A-list industry designers, and interior design bloggers like myself from around the world.

The event is the brain-child of Beth Greene, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Branding for Kravet – indisputably the  most well reputed fabric and furnishings house in interior design today.  A woman in the moment, increasingly aware of

the interdependence between interior design bloggers, shelter publications, and social media,

Ms. Greene envisioned the impact of bringing all of the above together – the interior design industry’s best.  Partnering with Jennifer Powell, Social Media Coordinator for Kravet, Beth – for the second year in a row – is doing just that.

Now, the download on our itinerary for today, with more, coverage, pictures, and posts to follow:

Day One, First Event: Monday May 21st, 12:00 – 3:30 PM

ICFF : the International Contemporary Furniture Fair

Javits Convention Center (655 W. 34th St. at 11th Ave.)

Described as “North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design, the ICFF annually lures those in determined pursuit of design’s timely truths and latest trends to an encyclopedic exhibition of up-to-the-moment offerings, as well as a series of fascinating, fun, edifying programs, and a packed schedule of exhibits and features.”

Day One, Second Event: Monday May 21st, 4:00 – 6:30 PM

Press & Blogfest Kickoff Hosted by Margaret Russell, Editor in Chief of Architectural Digest

(The Aldyn Residences, 60 Riverside Blvd at 63rd St.)

Upon arrival the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, we’ll have the opportunity to take a tour of the house, take photos, mingle with our fellow bloggers, and meet the editors and staff of Architectural Digest.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious interior design show houses in the country, this year’s house is not one, but TWO penthouse apartments at The Aldyn, a luxury building on Manhattan’s West Side.

Promptly at 5:00PM, Architectural Digest Editor in Chief Margaret Russell will join us to extend her introduction to the official Blogfest 2012 kickoff.  Let the festivities begin! We will meet the designers of the Kips Bay rooms,  and raise a glass to toast the new friends we’ll meet and experiences we’ll have during our time at Blogfest 2012.

Day One, Third Event: Monday May 21st, 7:00 – 8:30 PM

Cocktails at Savant Experience Center featuring Thom Filicia

(561 Broadway at Prince St. 3rd Floor)

Following Kips Bay we take the fun downtown to enjoy cocktails hosted by Savant at their 8,000+ square foot Experience Center. The space, located in the heart of SoHo, was designed by guest of honor Thom Filicia and features Savant’s Apple-based control and automation technology – which merges seamlessly in each of the stylish room settings. Thom, a favorite from last year’s Blogfest,  will be with us again to meet everyone and talk about the Savant Experience.

Day One, Fourth and Final Event: Monday May 21st, 8:30 PM – onwards

After Party at Savoir Beds

(28 Wooster St. at Grand St.)

Right around the corner from Savant we will join Savoir Beds for an exclusive Blogfest after party at their Soho showroom, for the final party of the night. In existence since 1905 when Savoir Beds was started by London’s Savoy Hotel, it is only recently that the brand has found itself outside of its hometown, making its mark with designers globally. Flagship locations in New York, Paris, London, Berlin, and Shanghai are the foundation for the brand’s globalization. Here we will acquaint ourselves with the 107-year-old “new” luxury brand.

From SoHo we’ll head home or to our hotels to rest up for Blogfest Day Two, which will launch bright and early on Tuesday morning.
