ON MY LIST
Every interior I’ve ever seen by Windsor Smith is gorgeous. A traditionalist who translates classical themes in a modern way, Ms. Smith has been on my list of favorite interior designers for about four or five years. And, yes, I have a list. Windsor’s highly anticipated first book, Windsor Smith Homefront: Design for Modern Living, released last month, celebrates her talent for creating glamorous yet livable spaces for modern life. One of Smith’s most well-known clients, Gwyneth Paltrow, wrote the book’s very warm and appreciative forward.
SMITH’S CREATIVE PROCESS
Structured into five chapters, each section details a core aspect of Smith’s creative process. Themes include: how to develop design intuition and color sense, how to establish balance in rooms and spaces, how to integrate the past and present into an interior, and the secret to creating all-embracing spaces in the home. Whether it is determining the new purpose of a space or expanding the role of the room—like the kitchen—, Windsor Smith Homefront guides readers to reclaim our home’s best spaces and fashion them to suit our modern families and modern lives.
