FOR THE FIRST DAY OF FALL
I don’t mind at all that today is the first day of Fall. In fact, I already love seeing the leaves begin to change in our (new) Virginia backyard, and the light frost on the windows when we wake up in the morning. When I came across this Napa Valley home with incredible interiors and exteriors – captured at exactly this Indian Summer time of year, – I knew the subtle palette would be perfect for today.
SIMPLE, COMFORTABLE, AND SOPHISTICATED
In keeping with the Northern California lifestyle, the home quietly and tastefully honors the beauty that surrounds it, without competing with it in any way. To accomplish this, interior designer Kara Mann worked with a Napa-inspired palette of creamy white, weathered taupe, smoky lavender, and chocolate brown. Well-reputed for her luxurious yet edgy style, the designer kept the interiors simple while incorporating eye-catching accents and tactile materials. A calming monochromatic scheme defines the private spaces, with equally serene hues for the guesthouse and pavilion. In both cases, Mann developed “simple, comfortable and sophisticated spaces” with slipcovered sofas to keep the mood relaxed.
