In Jennifer Connelly’s March feature for Du Jour magazine, the 43-year-old Oscar-winning mother of three talks about her new role as Naameh, wife of Russell Crowe’s Noah, in the upcoming big-budget biblical epic, Noah.
The movie is the actress’s second with her Requiem for a Dream director, Darren Aronofsky, and second time playing opposite Russell Crowe. I loved her as Crowe’s wife in A Beautiful Mind.
To prepare for her role as Noah’s wife, Neemah, Connelly re-read the Book of Genesis. “I wanted people to understand who she was. I thought a lot about what a woman at that time might be doing, what her contributions might have been,” says the actress.
First appearing in film at the age of 14 in Labyrinth, with great performances in The Rocketeer and A Beautiful Mind, Connelly admits to being selective when it comes to projects she’ll take on.
“There’s a wish list of elements: a great director, a great part I can do something with and interesting people to work with,” she says. “It’s not a perfect world, so sometimes you get a great director but not a great part, or a great part with someone you don’t know. You compromise.” I love Jennifer’s look in this photoshoot and I look forward to seeing her new film.
