High waisted jeans are back! While low-cut skinny jeans have reigned supreme for the past few years, high waists, wide legs, and even boot cuts have returned to the spotlight this Fall.
The figure-flattering high rise has always been a favorite silhouette of mine: it not only draws positive attention to the waist, but elongates legs, and is in my opinion, a timeless look, popular in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, but much less so, since.
This particular pair is from the New York label, Earnest Sewn, circa 2009, and has mostly been stowed away with all of my other boot cut and flare leg denim for the past five years.
It’s fun to see them trending again, and I paired them with an oxblood button-down, tied as a crop-top, to highlight just how high the waist on these jeans are: I think they go a full 2 inches above my belly-button.
The outfit as a whole is very simple: jeans, brown pumps, and a tied shirt, with lots of jewelry and my new favorite orange lip to balance it all out.
