AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT
My eyes literally popped out of my head with excitement when I heard this morning’s announcement by two of New York City’s most lauded interior designers: Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson. Their respective design firms, Drake Design Associates and Caleb Anderson Design, will join forces to become DRAKE + ANDERSON in 2016.
DRAKE + ANDERSON
Both designers will serve as co-principals of their eponymous firm; an innovative, multi-disciplinary enterprise offering a full range of bespoke interior design services including decorating, construction design, and management planning for high-end residential and commercial clientele worldwide. With respect to the aesthetic, as their new site reads, “You can expect it to be glamorous yet grounded. Sophisticated yet livable. Modern though timeless. And above all, luxurious.”
DRAKE ON ANDERSON
Jamie Drake is celebrated for his legendary use of color within modernist design. Regarding the merger, Mr. Drake commented, “I have always embraced change, and experiencing new styles, innovations and cultures gets my heart racing and my mind popping. Combining my firm with that of a rising star like Caleb excites me. He has the remarkable ability to harmoniously combine antiques and other timeless pieces with custom, more modern designs, for a fresh look that people want today. Bridging styles and periods is the future, and I know that compelling, new design will emerge from our dialogue.”
ANDERSON ON DRAKE
Caleb Anderson began his career with Drake Design Associates, and went on to build an enormously successful design practice of his own, praised for his fresh approach to traditionalism. With regard to his new partner, Anderson said, “Jamie is at the pinnacle of our profession, and the opportunity to partner with him is a tremendous honor. He has a brilliant ability to combine the most sophisticated luxury and refinement with a touch of the unexpected that is unlike anyone else. Our partnership is the perfect blend of styles and strengths and I am looking forward to this next very exciting chapter in our careers. We will undoubtedly bring something new and unique to our clients.”
VIEW THE SLIDESHOW
I have admired the work of both designers in person and via coverage here on sarahsarna [dot] com, (ex: HERE and HERE). When I re-familiarized myself with their portfolios for this post, it was clear that Drake and Anderson’s respective bodies of work have little overt similarity (modern vs. traditional, etc.). Yet when I put their interiors side-by-side for the slideshow, it was beyond satisfying to see how fully and remarkably their spaces compliment each other. I can’t wait to see what DRAKE + ANDERSON has in store!
