As a fashion student, I have to scour the runways every season for project inspiration. Spring 2016 left me with one takeaway: runway beauty goes two ways. The celebrity-inspired natural makeup trend is starting to climb to a modern peak with glowing simplicity and bleached brows. On the other hand, classic girls are still as colorful and as feminine as always. I decided to pull my two favorite looks from the Spring 2016 season to give you the rules on how to create the looks.
So, tell me, which girl are you? Old school or new cool?
CLASSIC MAKEUP à la DOLCE AND GABBANA
We will start in Milan, since it happened before example two. Dolce & Gabbana has become a beacon for the romantics at heart. They always seem to combine contemporary influence with traditional Italian styling.
Because of their classic roots, keep your face makeup simple: use a dewy foundation, a touch of bronzer under the cheekbones, on the temples, and blend it out around the perimeter of your face. Keep any eye shadow nude while adding a slightly winged liner that will make your lashes pop! Because their signature is the color red, add a pop of lipstick to complete the look. The brand makes it easy for you through their own makeup line that offers eight red lipsticks perfect for different complexions.
Tip: To wake your eyes up like the model in the photograph, add a touch of non-matte white or champagne shadow or highlight to the inner corner of you eye. This will instantly wake you up!
