10 STEPS TO DEWY SKIN
Hey there, It’s Jennifer from HOMETOWN HEROINE, here with my monthly beauty column. Spring is officially right around the corner, and that means it’s time to put away the heavy matte makeup and replace it with a fresher face. Here are the ten steps to creating perfectly luminous skin:
Beauty comes from the inside. The best way to get healthy, glowing skin is to take care of your body. Drinking plenty of water will not only help clear up imperfections, but it will also plump your skin, and create a natural glow.
Another key to keeping your skin naturally gorgeous is exfoliating. Removing the dead, and dried out layer of skin will not only help keep it luminous, but also assist your makeup to go on smoothly.
Everyone has different skin concerns, and it’s important to address those issues before laying down your foundation. Make Up For Ever has a line of 10 Skin Equalizing primers for every skin concern.
LAY THE FOUNDATION
When going for a luminous look, don’t choose foundations that are described as ‘dewy’ or ‘matte’. Matte foundations can make you look chalky, and ‘dewy is sometimes a code word for ‘oil slick’. I recommend using a universally flattering option like the Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation.
USE THE RIGHT TOOLS
For lack of a better term, you want to avoid the ‘cake face’ look. Using something like a damp Beauty Blender to apply your cream makeup will create an even layer of product without any excess.
If you’re like me and you have dry skin, add a couple drops of beauty oil to your brush or sponge before applying foundation. I recommend using Josie Maran’s Argan Oil (if you’re oily, opt for the ‘Light’ version).
Apply a translucent powder with a fluffy brush in tapping motions. This step will help insure your foundation will last all day without transferring.
Use a soft blush brush and apply bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks, up to your temples, then hug your hairline, Make sure the color is blended out well to create soft dimension.
Add a touch of illuminator to the highpoints of your face. Focus the majority of the product on the tops of your cheekbones, and blend it out. Then dab a little product on the tip of your nose, cupids bow, and under the arch of your eyebrows.
LET IT RAIN
Use a setting spray. This step will blur any imperfections, as well as remove any powdery residue. To get a really airbrushed look, use the Too Cool For School ‘Aqua Gel Mist’ which will remove the excess powder, while hydrating with botanicals.
