On Monday I shared what a wonderful High Point Market visit I had, and how my tour of the Hooker Furniture (HF) showroom on Lynn‘s behalf was a highlight of my experience. I showcased my five favorite HF chests (all stylish and sophisticated, yet incredibly diverse), and then showed an interior for each, where the chest would feel right at home.

Today’s best of #HPmkt focus is on my favorite Hooker Furniture accent chairs by their sister companies, Sam Moore and Bradington-Young.  With the world’s largest complete selection of home furnishings, it was no surprise to see just how sprawling Hooker Furniture, Sam Moore, and Bradington-Young’s chair selection is.  Let’s see:

Amber Lewis Home Office

No home office heaven is complete without a pin up inspiration board. This one, filled with colorful patterned fabrics, paint color swatches, and fond memories in photographs is a great example.

black and white polka dot bathroom

It could have been Yayoi Kusama’s exhibit at the Whitney last summer, her simultaneous limited-edition collection with Louis Vuitton, Apartment Therapy‘s January 3rd prediction that polka dots would be a home design trend of 2013, or Tina and my use of a petite polka dot print for our IFDA Take A Seat chair (wink), but polka dots are indeed all the rage.

Polka dots have actually been all the rage since the mid-1850′s, as they are classic and chic, especially in black and white, like in this bathroom. The spotted pattern is often used with very small dots on wallpaper in powder rooms. What makes this black and white polka dot bathroom a stand-out is the medium scale of this print, the continuation of the dots on the ceiling, and the use of the pattern in a high-functioning room with a full shower. So stylish.

After four amazing days at High Point Market, I have so many fabulous furnishings to share.  High Point really is the DisneyLand of design, and I had an unbelievable positive experience filling in for Lynn there. My trip was made possible by Hooker Furniture (HF), and my tour of their showroom was a highlight of my overall experience.

With over 85 years in operation, Hooker Furniture offers the world’s largest complete selection of home furnishings with the greatest range of styles I have ever seen from one manufacturer. Truly. A third-generation company, and one of the few furniture firms still led by a member of the founding family, Hooker Furniture (including its Bradington-Young upholstery division, its Sam Moore Furniture customized fabric-to-frame division, and Opus Designs, its specialized children’s furniture division) has high-quality furnishings to fit every aesthetic.

Soft Modern Bedroom by Alison Blumenfeld

Hope you had a lovely weekend. The weather in New York was gorgeous and I took full advantage, getting some longer training miles in Central Park on Saturday(the view is of Sheep’s Meadow), and painting indoors and out for Hurricane Sandy relief in Fort Tryon Park on Sunday (view of me scraping paint off of windows while wearing goggles and a safety mask).

Now, about today’s dream daily. This bedroom is an excellent example of how drapery detailing can elevate the design of a room.  In this soft monochromatic space, the wide taupe borders on the lampshades and the narrow taupe border on the soft roman shade provide modern tailoring, subtle contrast, and structure to an otherwise very relaxed and unadorned aesthetic.  The overall effect is a peaceful and serene welcome to this May Monday morning.

Built in Bunk Bed Design Suzanne Kasler

I love using bunk beds for kids rooms, not only for the space they maximize and open up, but because I adored the one I shared with my sibling for a few years while growing up.  Practical, particularly for chic city living, bunks beds are just so much fun.

PS – Starting tomorrow I’ll share my first of three roundups with my fabulous-furnishings-finds from High Point. See you then!
