black and white polka dot bathroom

It could have been Yayoi Kusama’s exhibit at the Whitney last summer, her simultaneous limited-edition collection with Louis Vuitton, Apartment Therapy‘s January 3rd prediction that polka dots would be a home design trend of 2013, or Tina and my use of a petite polka dot print for our IFDA Take A Seat chair (wink), but polka dots are indeed all the rage.

Polka dots have actually been all the rage since the mid-1850’s, as they are classic and chic, especially in black and white, like in this bathroom. The spotted pattern is often used with very small dots on wallpaper in powder rooms. What makes this black and white polka dot bathroom a stand-out is the medium scale of this print, the continuation of the dots on the ceiling, and the use of the pattern in a high-functioning room with a full shower. So stylish.
