ABOUT SARAH SARNA INTERIOR DESIGN

Sarah Sarna Interior Design is a boutique interior design firm, specializing in residential interiors. Our services include design consultation,  space planning, furniture design, and project management. Our work ranges from small decoration projects to those larger in scale.

Designer Sarah Sarna draws upon her passion for global affairs to curate interiors infused with Caribbean, French, and Indian influences – a synthesis of her studies and travels.

For our clients, Sarah composes a collection of ready-made and custom-made upholstered furniture, window dressings, antiques, and art – from showrooms as well as one-of-a-kind sources. We work with artisans around the country and abroad, with a penchant for pieces that are hand-crafted, of limited-edition, or otherwise tell a story to compliment a client’s individuality and style. Sarah draws inspiration from the natural environment, history, literature, fine art, film, and fashion to engage our clients to provide as much detail relevant to our design process as possible. This collaboration produces the most stylish and personalized home possible.

The Sarah Sarna aesthetic is layered, evocative, and thoughtful, resultant in interiors that are effortless, multi-functional, and comfortably able to accommodate our clients’ lifestyles. The finished interior is a creative composition that inspires, energizes, and feels like home.

ABOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS

Each project begins with a design consultation or meet and greet with Sarah to discuss the client’s objectives and budget, as well as obtain a sense of their style and the way they live, ideally in a current residence. In the next steps, a contract is signed, a retainer is placed, and a date for a design presentation is scheduled – usually 3-6 weeks in the future.

In preparation for the design presentation, measurements of the space to be designed are confirmed, floor and furniture plans are drawn, 2-3 schemes complete with layouts, furnishings, fabrics, and paint color options are composed, and a straightforward budget spreadsheet is drafted with line items, expected completion dates, and a projected budget outlay.

At the design presentation, the client provides feedback on design direction and budgeting, and a dialogue begins. Furniture plans, furnishings, fabrics, and paint colors are approved or reworked and design development commences. A project schedule is issued right away and purchase orders are sent to the client as soon as possible in order to move forward. The period between an initial consultation and a project’s completion depends upon the size and scope of the project, and can span anywhere between 2 months to 1 year.
