SOTHEBY’S DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE
For At Home, the 2016 Sotheby’s Designer Showhouse and Auction, April 12th-16th, twelve interior design firms have created signature rooms within a home constructed within the fifth-floor exhibition space of Sotheby’s Manhattan headquarters. The elite group of emerging and established designers were asked to select antique and contemporary works spanning Sotheby’s departments: from 20th Century Design to Silver, and from Photography to English Furniture, to bring their respective rooms to life.
OPEN THROUGH SUNDAY
The Showhouse is open to the public through Sunday April 16th, alongside Sotheby’s Decorative Arts Week exhibitions, culminating in a dedicated auction of the rooms’ furnishings on Monday April 17th, 2016. Start the slideshow to see how each room of the 6,300 SF Showhouse exhibition, designed by Trey LaFave Architecture and Interiors, embodies the essence of modern-day luxury living, as photographed by Alan Barry and with insight from the designers, as told to Sotheby’s Alexandra Owens.
BUNNY WILLIAMS, Living Room
“I like complex rooms that become more interesting over time[.] …A room should unfold to you. I don’t think you should walk in and be hit over the head by anything,” explains Williams.
