Kitchen Trends

AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE

Hello SARAH SARNA readers, Chesta Trehan here ([email protected]). I’m very excited to be visiting today with 7 kitchen trends to look for in 2015. As a design writer, I have worked for international publications like the Hindustan Times (the second most widely read English newspaper in India) and Society Interiors (India’s premier people and lifestyle magazine), I’m thrilled to be sharing my international perspective on what’s going to reign in the kitchen in the New Year.

THE WORLD OF KITCHEN DESIGN

Kitchen design is constantly changing, evolving, and growing — even as a design journalist it’s a challenge to keep up! The kitchen of 2015 is trending the color blue and its umpteen shades, especially sapphire, azure, and turquoise. Blurred lines between indoor and outdoor space, light wood finishes, and of course brightly polished brass are only a few of my picks of what to look for in 2015.

OUTDOOR WALKS INDOORS

Think natural finishes, window walls, and outdoorsy flooring inside the kitchen. The line between outdoors and indoors is blurring. This year we will see interiors and exteriors merge in an inviting fashion. Don’t be surprised if you see backyards exhibiting gorgeous indoor pieces, as well.
