As pleasurable as it is to see photographs of interiors online and in print, there is nothing like experiencing an interior designer’s vision in real life. The opportunity to see a space with your own eyes and walking through it – the experience is at least 200% better than the still image. So when a group of my New York City-based interior designer friends, Jennifer Mehditash, Lynn Byrne, Rebecca Reynolds, and Michele Alfano, learned that several of our friends, including fellow Brizo Fashion Week blogger Laurie Gorelick were designing rooms for the 2012 Junior League of Boston Show House, #designercaravan (a New York to Boston round-trip drive by Jennifer Mehditash on Saturday October 27th) was born. I was thrilled to be invited to join and had an amazing time with some of the best in the biz.
As 2012 comes to a close and I look back on so many of the amazing experiences I’ve had in the past 12 months, #designercaravan is one of the standouts. This year’s Boston Junior League Show House had some of the most beautiful, livable, newTRAD-style interiors that I’ve seen in over a decade in the design world of New York. The caliber of talent in in this under-the-radar design exhibition was impressive. In honor of such talent, I declare the Boston Junior League’s show to the be one of the best of 2012. Here are my top 10 favorite interiors from the show house, making them 10 of the best spaces of the year.
